April is a busy month in first grade! We have a lot to accomplish in this final quarter of the school year!
Reading- cause and effect, making inferences, story elements
Phonics- variant vowel oo, dipthong oi, silent letters
Math- partitioning shapes, data, word problems review
Social Studies- George Washington Carver, positive character traits, goods and services, people as producers and consumers
Science- basic needs of animals
Health- Preventing and responding to accidents in and outside of the home
***Please remember to have your child get on Istation at home. It is a great way to practice reading and math skills!

Writing- opinion pieces
Math- word problems within 20, word problems of 3 whole numbers
Phonics-digraphs ea, ee with r, variant vowel /ar/
Science- characteristics and basic needs of plants and animals
Social Studies- identify goods and services, making choices/scarcity, people as producers and consumers
Health- exercise and basic hygiene
**We are planning to do a field trip in April, so be on the lookout for information in the Thursday folders. We cannot go if we don't have enough participation!
